The Clarence Foundation is an international grantmaking organization that seeks the hearts and minds of donors--not just checks. Each donor is a member of a small group that decides collectively how their money is spent. Our donors share their experience with project leaders overseas who receive funding from us. The group helps set expectations and milestones; members can even make personal visits to a project. Clarence does not give aid. Our projects create some sustainable, local community impact, like a new enterprise or a clean water source. Our foundation stands for modest administrative overhead, active donor involvement, and direct support to organizations that have a team with the vision and talent to make a significant contribution in their community. We create a framework for personal and accountable giving. We allow donors to become active partners with the recipients and to own a share of the joys and challenges of making a difference.
